Description
PSI Offers The Ayre Spatula is a simple, ergonomic device specifically shaped to collect exfoliated cells from the cervix and vaginal mucosa for cytological evaluation. It has a broad flat end to scrape cells from the ectocervix and posterior fornix, and a narrower end to access the cervical canal more precisely. Collected cells are then transferred to a slide or preservation fluid for laboratory analysis during a Pap smear test.
Features
Designed with a dual-ended shape: one broad end and one narrow end for sampling different areas of the cervix and vagina.
Length 17–19 cm — easy to handle during sampling procedures.
Made of wood or medical-grade plastic, both with smooth, rounded edges to reduce tissue irritation.
Single-use/disposable (most common in clinical use) to prevent cross-contamination and infection.
Some variants may be sterile-packed for immediate safe use.
Uses
Cervical Cancer Screening (Pap Smear Test) — Primary tool for collecting cervical cells for cytology tests.
Gynecological Examinations — Used by trained medical personnel to detect abnormal cells before they develop into more serious conditions.
Routine Women’s Health Checkups — Helps in early detection of HPV-related changes or other precancerous conditions.
