Description
PSI Offers I-gel is a truly unique, single-use, latex and PVC free second generation supraglottic airway management device that represents the culmination of years of extensive research and development. Made from a medical grade thermoplastic elastomer, i-gel has been designed to create a non-inflatable, anatomical seal of the pharyngeal, laryngeal and perilaryngeal structures whilst avoiding compression trauma.
The i-gel supraglottic airway is supplied in a fully recyclable protective cradle or cage pack. This unique packaging protects the i-gel in transit and ensures that it maintains its anatomical shape. i-gel is available in seven sizes.
Features
Medical-grade thermoplastic elastomer – The soft, gel-like material forms an anatomical, non-inflatable seal around the laryngeal inlet, reducing trauma and eliminating the need for cuff inflation.
Latex- & PVC-free, single-use device – This minimizes allergic reactions and avoids the risks associated with reusable equipment.
Non-inflatable cuff design – Simplifies insertion and improves comfort with less mucosal pressure and reduced trauma compared to traditional inflatable cuffs.
Gastric channel (except smallest size) – Allows passage of a gastric tube to vent or decompress the stomach, helping reduce aspiration risk during ventilation.
Integral bite block – Prevents occlusion of the airway tube from patient biting.
Buccal cavity stabiliser & epiglottic rest – Helps maintain position and reduces rotation or airway obstruction.
Colour-coded sizes – Makes sizing quick and easy, with options from neonatal to large adult.
Uses
Anaesthesia – To maintain ventilation during surgical procedures under general anaesthesia where intubation may not be required or as a primary airway device.
Emergency & Resuscitation – Quickly secures the airway during CPR, trauma care, or rapid sequence airway management.
Difficult Airway Management – In some cases, the i-gel can act as a conduit for intubation with fibreoptic guidance when direct tracheal intubation is challenging.
Airway Backup – Serves as a reliable backup airway device during emergencies or when conventional techniques are difficult
